If I recall correctly, Uncle Jim would reserve the cabins, the first week of August for family, Grandmother Lucy Sattler, Sattlers from PA, Phillips from CA and AZ, Weninos from Morehead, and Sister Ruth SSND, water ski, fish, good food. Sister Ruth liked to wash the produce multiple times, I remember the electrical storms that I haven’t experience since. I was looking up the resort because the woman that cut my hair (Huntington Beach) is from Richmond MN and I wanted to share a photo (postcards). I never got to water ski again. Uncle Jim was a very kind person and I will always regret that I didn’t get to know him when I became an adult. I still have the chess board he brought back from one of his overseas assignments. I hope I have this memory correct, He also flew to Decatur Il when I was a scout and took the cub scouts up for a ride. I know seems strange but that is what I remember.
Oh my gosh! My uncle Jim Sattler owned this resort until his tragic death in December of 1972. I have such wonderful memories of this place and always try to remember details. I’d love to see what’s been done with the cabins. I hope they are loved and enjoyed by their owners!

Was your uncle Jim? My family spent all summer there from about 1967-1980. We lived in the two small cabins. I cleaned cabins for Jim on Saturday. I loved this resort. People would come back for their vacations year after year.
I probably know you.
Sunset Point Resort is on one of the points on Horseshoe Lake. I am the current owner of the main home on the point. Each of the small cabins have been sold off & beautifully updated!

My uncle used to own this and we spent many summers there.
Is there still a large cabin and an a frame as well as the little cabins?
