My mom and dad owned Blue Bird Lodge for about 10 years in the late 50’s-early 60’s. I have many great memories of those days. Sure would be great to hear from some of those resort guests!!
My family stayed at Blue Bird from 1970 to 1998 when the resort was sold to private ownership. In the later 80’s the resort changed hands and the owners changed the name to Run Away Bay, but I have more fond memories of the original Blue Bird resort. We stayed in the central cabin with the fireplace, and concluded every evening with a sauna, followed by a fire with s’mores and hot dogs. I remember my Mom painting ceramics in the original home across the road.

YES–WE–(MY FAMILY)-WOULD STAY THERE AT BLUE BIRD LODGE FOR A WEEK FROM 1964 TO 1978. RIGHT ALONG LAKE BELTANE. SAUNA, BASKETBALL HOOPS (LATER), FISH CLEANING HOUSE, REC. ROOM WITH PINBALL MACHINES, ETC. THE OFFICE WAS ACROSS THE HIGHWAY. AN OLDER COUPLE RAN IT WHEN WE FIRST STARTED GOING THERE, THEN THE FITZLOFF FAMILY TOOK IT OVER.
