Used to go to Lk. Osakis each summer, for several years, and stay here. My dear dad would use his only week off to haul us 5 kids and mom up here. In retrospect, it wasn’t really much of a vacation for them, especially mom, who had to shoo mice of the cabin and had none of her cooking items to use. It was a challenge. Got a fish hook in my foot the first summer. Used to take the row boat out on the lake alone (parents would be horrified at that today). Later, we went to Lake Mary just west of Alexandria for our annual ‘vacation’. The one thing I do remember was that the theater in Alexandria cost ten-cents admission. Can you imagine? Good memories. The accompanying music of the day was “Moon River” and “Rubber Ball” by Bobby Vee. We would listen to the AM radio all the way up from Richfield to Osakis. We’d stop about half way and have a picnic lunch. Man, I long for those simpler days. THANKS so much for this photo. Glad to have it. Will share with my sibs.
