My great grandfather, George Arnold homesteaded on American Point. My grandfather, Clarence “Cotton” Arnold was actually born on American Point. My dad, Douglas, has a home on the Northwest Angle. George hired a school teacher and I believe some neighboring children were also taught on American Point. (I believe if there were 11 students the county would pay for the teacher and school.)
