I came to the Shady Rest Resort as a young child in the early 1960’s. My grandfather, who lived in Sioux City, IA, knew the owners and loved to fish there. I recall it as very rustic, with no modern plumbing, just hand water pumps and outhouses. There is no information on the internet that suggests it still exists, but I am curious as to what happened to it.

I am so happy with the picture of Shady Rest Resort. My father worked there in 1940 as a 16 year old kid for a summer. The people who owned it were the Weavers and they were very good to him. I am putting together a book of letters from 1893 to
