During this time the Balsam Beach Resort was owned by my great-uncle Andrew Christian “Hap” Peterson – absolutely everyone called him Hap – and great-aunt Mary. (Hap was the younger brother of my grandfather.)
When Hap retired around 1956, he sold the resort to my uncle Burdette “Bert” Peterson (my mother’s brother) and my aunt Hazel and their family. When Uncle Burd died of a sudden heart attack in 1964, the resort was eventually sold out of the Peterson family.
Today the lodge and its cabins are private residences.
