My family lived in Beech Grove , IN and vacationed there more than once back in the 60’s and 70’s. I think my dad and buddies also had hunting trips there. Thanks for the memories.
When I was 14-15, I lived at this lodge in 1978-79. I had spent a few summers there prior to that. The first winter was terribly cold. We had wrapped that entire lodge in thick plastic as our only form of insulation. Lots of memories building the campgrounds, residing the lodge, building a well house, and many more projects. Although I now live in TX, I stay a few days across the lake every October.
This photo is from the early ‘50’s. The Pontiac wagon was my uncle Walt and aunt Florence Worrell The ‘54 Willy’s Jeep was bought by my dad (( Ernie Worrell ) from Art Sacks Jeep dealer in Indianapolis. That’s were we come from.The Jeep is what I drove learning how to drive. Good story about how we bought the lodge.
Frank, what is the story about buying the lodge? My grandparents owned it around the 40s or early 50s, but I’m not sure. I have an old brochure from that time. Herman and Marie Ivers…
