We closed up the lodge after deer season and lived in cabin #1 the second winter we were there. Dad would drive out to the highway ( 8 miles)every day so my sister could catch the bus to school in Effie.
My family owned the lodge from ‘54 to ‘72. I lived there as a lad and spent all my summers on the lake and in the woods. Mrs Mckorkle was a wonderful lady. I remember her telling about chasing a bear out of her hanging laundry with a broom.
You are right on people left who know that era of the lodge. I lived it.
My grandparents owned the lodge in the early 50s. I have an old flyer and tons of photos. I don’t know much about it. It was before I was born. I would love to visit the area and find it. Does it still exist?
Does anyone remember Florence Worrell?

This resort is just down the road from where I grew up. It has quite a history which not many are left to recall.
