My Grandfather was Nick Fiduk…owner of Nicks Indian Gift Shop. My Father, Floyd was born in Onamia in 1931. Nice to see someone preserving the history of the true “back woods”. My Dad and I are starting to go through lots of boxes of pictures of the old days. Was interesting to see a picture my Dad had of Ted Williams with a line of fish caught on Mille Lacs. His wifes family was from Princeton and he would rather be fishing with my Grandfather when he came to visit!
As for this Picture…. Interesting things to note: The ducks and chickens on the lawn are not real but were lawn ornaments for sale…. My Grandfather invited local Chippewa Chiefs to come on the weekends and take pictures with tourists…. He was very close to Charlie and Ellen Peewash, of whom we have pictures. My Dad now lives with my wife and I…. Every day I get a story or two from the Mecca of the North that is Onamia!
