Around 1946 Maple Dell resort was used by the CYC of St Paul MN. My sister and I had signed up for 1 week. We loved it so much we called our parents and begged for a second week. I felt a little guilty asking them for that second week knowing each week was $13 per person. Well maybe not that guilty. It was a thrilling experience for a 9 &10 year Olds.
My father knew Mr. Jennings, who I think was the owner – since my father died in 1952, that summer of 1950 or 51 was our last vacation – I’d love any more information about Maple Dell, including more photos from that period of time if still exist and are available
My grandparents, Jim and Alvina Sharp, managed Maple Dell Resort. I’m told that I took my first steps in 1950 in front of those steps. I have lots of good memories growing up at Big Boy Lake. I still have the big dinner bell from Maple Dell. Alvina Sharp just passed away in August, 2014 at age 103. This resort has been a bible camp since about 1959. The lodge is still standing.
